Wednesday Workshops – what the devil ARE they?

Our Wednesday workshops have been running for well over a year now, but I still don’t seem to be conveying what they involve. I think its probably because they are really my baby, and I don’t really have much to compare them to. I thought I would write a post to see if a boring old description would help.

Each session starts with a short meditation. This enables us to really enter the space and leave the day behind us. I personally love this moment , as it always feels like a commitment to the rest of the evening.

We look at what festivals are coming up in the next month. We look at traditions and celebrations and the folklore around those celebrations. Its always one of my favourite parts – to research what’s coming up in the calendar.
Storytime! I tell a story that is associated with the time of year. Apparently I am a whizz with all the voices. These stories can be from all over the world, and credit is always given. As adults, we are not given enough stories.
Seasonal crafts suggestions next. Its always nice to make things related to the world around us – really enforcing that connection. We have looked at how to make candles, window washes, wreaths, leaf bowls, spells for good fortune and mobiles. Any suggestions are always welcome!

So, what’s happening in nature? What do we look out for at the moment? I always say these workshops are to increase our spiritual connection , and this really is a major part of that. To see , and be more aware of, the changes in the natural world around you, really does give a sense of constant awe and comfort. We all share our observations and knowledge here. Sunrises, sunsets, light and dark. How is the Earth moving and changing? Too often we look only upwards for Divinity, Deity and Spirit, when they’re all around us too.

The Moons! What, when , how, what signs, and how to work with the coming month’s lunar energies. Always good to have the advance knowledge and inspiration of how to plan for it.

Last look at nature – and this time the stars, planets and sky at night in general. What to look for, and usually that eternal concern, is Mercury retrograde again?

And something a bit more under the more regular definition of ” Spiritual.” This month we are going to look at Oracle cards and how to use them. We finish with another meditation.

Folks tend to then slide off to bed, hopefully inspired by all that we have shared. Its possibly my favourite evening of the month, and I hope it continues for a while to come. I’ve always wanted people to have ALL the info I can muster, so that as the month progresses they remember and recognise, and feel informed and empowered. I don’t know if I manage all that in our little 90 minute get together, but hopefully we get close. Should you ever wish to join us, you are always welcome.
